National Assembly Members Express Dissatisfaction Over Kathmandu-Terai Expressway Delay

Kathmandu. National Assembly members have expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the construction of the Kathmandu-Terai Expressway. 

They expressed this dissatisfaction on Monday at the National Assembly's Public Policy and Good Governance Committee meeting, while reviewing the monitoring conducted in the districts of Madhesh and Bagmati provinces. 

They stated that the construction of the Kathmandu-Terai Expressway is very slow and will not be completed even in the next four years. At the meeting, National Assembly member Ranjit Karna said that despite many years having passed and it being a national pride project, it is still uncertain when the expressway will be built. He said that although the government has stated it will be completed within four years, after monitoring the construction site and discussing with technicians, there is no sign of completion even within four years. 

Similarly, National Assembly member Yuvraj Sharma said that the delay is due to the inability to solve the problems seen during the construction of the expressway in a timely manner. He suggested that the government should be serious about the delay in the construction of the national pride project and budget management. 

The committee had recently conducted on-site monitoring of projects including the Kathmandu-Terai/Madhesh Expressway, Nagdhunga Tunnel Way, and the President Chure Terai-Madhesh Conservation Program. Committee Chairperson Pooja Chaudhary informed that a detailed discussion on the monitoring report will be held in the next meeting.
