11 Electric Vehicles Unclaimed at Rasuwa Timure Customs After Flood Damage

Rasuwa. Eleven electric vehicles, on which customs duty has not been paid, have become unclaimed at the Rasuwa Timure Customs after being damaged by a flood. The vehicles, worth 8 crore 86 lakh 90 thousand rupees, were buried in the Lhende River flood on Asar 24, 082, and have been left unclaimed in Timure for a year.

Since the damaged vehicles are not sellable, the importer CG Motors has not shown interest in taking them. The market price of ten vehicles of the Xpeng G6 brand is 8 crore 49 lakh 90 thousand rupees. According to Chandi Raj Gelal, Deputy Subba at the Rasuwa Customs Office, the importer has to pay customs duty of about 40 percent of the market price, which is 3 crore 39 lakh rupees. An EV van worth 37 lakh rupees is also unclaimed.

According to him, the vehicles were left in the condition they were in during the flood because insurance claims need to be made. Gelal stated that since the importer has not given the government the right to auction them, they have not been able to manage them either. 'After the importer writes a letter to the government stating that this happened due to a natural disaster, we will bring a mechanical engineer to assess them. Then we will proceed with the auction process. However, nothing like that has happened,' he said.

The flood had damaged imported vehicles and goods worth a total of 70 crore 51 lakh 69 thousand rupees. Fifty-six electric and petroleum vehicles were swept away in the flood. The estimated value of these vehicles is 47 crore 12 lakh 82 thousand rupees. Among these, CG Motors has the largest number of vehicles, with 40 vehicles worth 33 crore 3 lakh 62 thousand rupees. Among these, there are 30 vehicles worth 24 crore 53 lakh 72 thousand rupees.

Ten vehicles worth 8 crore 49 lakh 90 thousand rupees were completely destroyed by the flood. Similarly, 8 vehicles worth 6 crore 99 lakh 20 thousand rupees from Skywell Motors, 5 trucks worth 4 crore 48 lakh rupees imported by Spark Pvt. Ltd., and 3 trucks worth 2 crore 25 lakh rupees organized by Evergreen Energy and Investment Pvt. Ltd. went missing. Besides these, an electric van worth 37 lakh rupees was found damaged. All brands except Skywell had insurance.
