Woman Attempts Self-Immolation Near Boudha Gate

Kathmandu. A young woman has attempted self-immolation near Boudha Gate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6. 27-year-old Salu Gurung, originally from Temal Rural Municipality-3 of Kavrepalanchok and residing in Boudha, attempted self-immolation by sprinkling petrol at 2:50 AM. Gurung attempted self-immolation in the parking lot behind her own snack shop, informed SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the District Police Range Kathmandu. The husband took the injured wife to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital Sakhu. From there, she has been referred to the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur for further treatment. Hospital Director Dr. Kiran Nakarmi informed that she is undergoing treatment in the ICU. The hospital informed that 25 to 30 percent of her body has been burned. Preliminary investigation shows that she attempted self-immolation after a domestic dispute.
