Infrastructure Tribunal Law Construction Nears Final Stage

Kathmandu. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, has informed that the work on constructing the law related to the establishment of an 'Infrastructure Tribunal' to remove legal obstacles in Nepal's development construction and to speed up projects has reached the final stage.

According to Gautam, discussions necessary for the establishment of this tribunal have been completed and preparations are underway to advance the bill after some final revisions.

Gautam said, "This tribunal has been conceptualized with the objective of providing speedy, expert, and effective resolution of infrastructure-related disputes. It will reduce the burden on the Supreme Court, conserve public resources, and ensure citizens' right to receive services."

Gautam argues that the delay in infrastructure projects should not be seen merely as a dispute between the government and construction entrepreneurs. "The biggest loss is borne by the public when projects are delayed. Since taxpayers' money is spent and opportunities are lost, we have envisioned this new legal structure by keeping public interest at the center," she mentioned.

She believes that the amendment of the Public Procurement Act and the establishment of the Infrastructure Tribunal will bring a historic turning point in Nepal's development journey.
