Sequel to Hit 90s Comedy 'Haseena Maan Jaayegi' in Development

Mumbai. Preparations for the sequel to the popular 90s comedy film 'Haseena Maan Jaayegi' have been accelerated. Amidst the recent dominance of action films in Bollywood, producer Smita Thackeray is bringing the second installment of this superhit film to make the audience laugh.

'Haseena Maan Jaayegi 2' is being prepared to be presented in a modern style suitable for today's generation while maintaining the soul of the original film released in 1999. This time, Farhad Samji will be handling the responsibility of writing and directing the film.

Initially, the producers wanted to bring back the original director David Dhawan for this sequel, but due to his insistence on not remaking his old films after 'Judwaa' and 'Coolie No. 1', Farhad Samji secured this project.

The casting process for the film is planned to begin by March 2026. The production team aims to sign two currently popular young actors for the lead roles.

The original film, starring Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Kader Khan, and Karisma Kapoor, was made on a budget of only 9 crore INR and successfully earned over 27 crore INR worldwide.
