'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' Celebrates 25 Years with Silver Jubilee Event in Mumbai

Mumbai. The historic successful Bollywood film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' has completed 25 years of its release. On this occasion, the production unit celebrated the Silver Jubilee (Rajat Mahotsav) with a special event in Mumbai on Monday. 

The film's main actors Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, director Anil Sharma, along with other actors and technicians, were present at the event. At the event, actor Sunny Deol cut a cake and fed it to actress Ameesha Patel and director Anil Sharma. 

During the event, when media persons jokingly commented, 'Now it is the era of AI, so artists can be shown young forever through this,' Ameesha pointed towards Sunny Deol and said, 'He is still young.'

The film was released on June 15, 2001. At that time, there was a lot of craze among the audience for this film. On the same day, 'Lagaan', starring Aamir Khan, was also released. Despite strong competition at the box office, both films did well commercially.

'Gadar', made on a budget of approximately 18 crore Indian rupees, grossed over 133 crore rupees at the box office. Similarly, its second part 'Gadar 2', made on a budget of 60 crore rupees, managed to collect over 691 crore rupees worldwide. The audience greatly appreciated Sunny Deol's role as 'Tara Singh' and Ameesha Patel's role as 'Sakina' in the film.

At the Silver Jubilee ceremony, the team emotionally remembered the late actor Amrish Puri, who played the role of Sakina's father in the film. Sunny Deol said, 'Amrish ji is not among us today, but he will always be in our hearts.'

Director Anil Sharma added, 'As long as the name 'Gadar' exists, Amrish Puri ji's name will also be associated with it.' Actress Ameesha also said that they miss Amrish Puri a lot.
