Chinese airplane to land at Pokhara Airport on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, June 20: Pokhara International Airport, which has been operational since January 1, 2023, will have its first international flight on Wednesday morning. Chinese airplane 'Sichuan Airlines' carrying 130 passengers is going to land at the Pokhara International Airport for the first time.

Jagannath Niraula, the spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority, informed that the airplane is scheduled to land at the Pokhara Airport at 9:30 am on Wednesday after taking a chartered flight from China's Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Niraula also informed that the airplane will be held in Pokhara for 1 hour, will come to Kathmandu and return to China on the same day.

The chartered flight is going to be held on the occasion of the Dragon Boat Race Festival organized in Pokhara for the first time in South Asia. The Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Chinese Embassy, and the Tourism Board are jointly organizing a boat race in Pokhara on June 23 and 24. More than 120 Chinese tourists including athletes are coming to Nepal for the boat race on the airplane.

On the same occasion, Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, along with MPs Pradeep Yadav, Dhawal Shamsher Jabara, Deepa Gurung, Udaya Bahadur Bohara, Harishankar Chaudhary and Jeevan Pariyar, who are currently on a visit to China, will also land in Pokhara on the same plane.
