Honor killing suspected in deaths of eloped teens in Dailekh
Dailekh, January 5 — Two teenagers who had gone missing a week ago from their homes in Dailekh have been found dead.
The deceased are 17-year-old Sharmila Thapa and 17-year-old Man Singh BK both from Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality-4.
According to the District Police Chief, DSP Sunil Dahal, the two had eloped from their homes on Saturday, December 28, with the intention of getting married.
They were found dead in a forest located some distance from their homes.
Initial investigations suggest that the two may have had a romantic relationship, and it is suspected that they may have run away due to family opposition to their marriage.
DSP Dahal mentioned that further investigation is ongoing.
Both Thapa and BK were students at Kalika Secondary School in the same ward, with Thapa in grade 9 and BK in grade 10.
