Four killed in traffic accidents across Nepal
Kathmandu, January 5 — At least four people have died in separate accidents within the last 24 hours, according to the Nepal Police.
In Rupandehi, a pedestrian in his 50s, whose identity remains unknown, was killed on Saturday night after being hit by a bus (AS 26 AC 2537) in Motipur, Mayadevi Rural Municipality-4.
The victim succumbed to serious injuries while undergoing treatment at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa. The bus driver has been taken into police custody.
In Chitwan, a motorcycle (Ra.4 Pa 8156) lost control on the road in Bansichok, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-7, on Saturday night, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Lok Bahadur Magar from Manthali Municipality-11, Ramachhap. He later died from his injuries while receiving treatment at New Medical College, Bharatpur.
In Nawalparasi West, a motorcyclist, 18-year-old Deep Prajapati from Ramgram Municipality-5, was killed in an accident in Batrauli, Sunwal Municipality-2, when his motorcycle (Lu.98 Pa 1753) went out of control late on Saturday night.
He was later pronounced dead at Bhairahawa Medical College, Rupandehi, after treatment. Another person injured in the accident is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
In Jhapa, 58-year-old Mala Thapa from Mechinagar Municipality-6 was killed on Saturday night after being hit by a Scorpio (WB 74 BN 6885) in Firing Chowk, Mechinagar-6. She died at Birtacity Hospital, Birtamod, after sustaining serious injuries. The Scorpio driver has been taken into police custody.
The police are conducting investigations into these accidents.
