NEPSE index sees modest gain on first trading day of the week

Kathmandu, January 5 — On the first trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index saw a moderate increase. The overall market rose by 5.32 points, reaching 2,591.56 points.

A total of 141 companies saw their stock prices rise, while 94 companies experienced a decline, and 8 companies had stable stock prices.

Despite the overall modest increase in the market, stocks of Upakar Microfinance, Dordi Khola Hydropower, and Green Ventures Limited saw positive circuit breaks. Stocks of Dolti Power Company and Green Development Bank increased by more than 9%.

Investments in hydropower and trade-related companies also rose, with their respective sub-indices increasing by 1.67% and 1.14%.

In terms of transaction volume, Janaki Finance topped the list with a trading amount of NPR 190.9 million.

On Sunday, a total of 327 companies traded 9.36 million shares, with a turnover of NPR 4.86 billion.
