Vice Chair of Bishnupur RM vandalizes official vehicle in Siraha

Siraha, January 5 — The Vice Chairperson of Bishnupur Rural Municipality in Siraha has been accused of vandalizing the rural municipality’s official vehicle.

Vice Chairperson Geeta Kumari Singh reportedly damaged the government-owned Scorpio (Ba 2 Jha 3643) after expressing dissatisfaction that the vehicle was not sent to pick her up from her home.

According to the driver, Babunath Yadav, Singh used bricks and stones to break the windows and windshield of the vehicle, as well as to damage other parts of the car.

The rural municipality’s Chairman and Vice Chairperson typically share the same vehicle, but tension had reportedly been building as the Chairman frequently used the vehicle, while the Vice Chairperson faced difficulties in getting the car for her own work.

A staff member noted that the Vice Chairperson had been frustrated by the refusal to provide the vehicle when requested.

The Vice Chairperson allegedly became enraged when the vehicle was not sent to pick her up as requested and then proceeded to vandalize the car, which was parked in front of the Chairman's house.

Chairman Satya Narayan Yadav stated that the Vice Chairperson had asked for the vehicle at 9 AM, and when the driver arrived late, she caused the damage at the location where the car had been parked. He emphasized that he had never refused to provide the vehicle to her, claiming the allegations were false.

Attempts to contact Vice Chairperson Geeta Kumari Singh for further comment were unsuccessful, as her mobile phone was switched off.
