Health Ministry Directs Hospitals to Ensure Uninterrupted Services Amid Attacks on Healthcare Workers

Kathmandu. Following incidents of attacks on doctors and health workers, the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene has directed all hospitals to ensure that health services are not disrupted under any circumstances. The ministry stated that the process of bringing the perpetrators to justice is ongoing and urged for the continuous operation of treatment services.

A statement issued by Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, Joint Spokesperson of the Ministry, on Tuesday, mentioned that the ministry is seriously concerned about the recent incidents of assault and abuse against doctors, health workers, and health institutions. The ministry has stated that the relevant bodies are proceeding with the necessary process to identify the individuals involved in the incidents and bring them under legal action.

Following the attack on a doctor at Narayani Hospital, Health Minister Nisha Mehta arranged for the injured doctor, Dr. Pramod Ram, to be brought to Kathmandu for further treatment and visited the Trauma Center to inquire about his health condition. Minister Mehta has directed the security agencies to take strict action against the culprits and is continuously making efforts to ensure that health services are not disrupted.

The ministry issued a statement on Tuesday urging all hospitals to conduct health services regularly. The ministry clarified that health services are essential, life-saving, and sensitive services, and therefore, no obstruction should come in the treatment of citizens.

The statement mentioned that it is the right of health workers to provide services in a safe and respectful environment, and all hospitals have been appealed to ensure the continuous flow of health services without obstructing the treatment services for citizens.
