Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of Wife in Sarlahi

Sarlahi. A youth has been arrested for attempting to kill his wife by beating her and strangling her with a sari at her in-laws' house in Tekani, Bagmati Municipality-5.

Basanta Batha Dhobi, 21, of Sheikhna, Dhankul Rural Municipality-1, Sarlahi District, beat his 18-year-old wife Chinta Devi around 8:00 PM on Monday night and attempted to hang her by the neck with a sari.

During the incident, his 10-year-old sister Kusum Kumari saw the incident and immediately informed relatives. Relatives timely opened the noose and rescued Chinta Devi.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team from Rajghat Police Post reached the scene and took the injured to Bagmati Model Hospital, Karmaiya. After initial treatment, she was referred to Birgunj for further treatment, and then taken to Better Nepal, Garuda in Rautahat at 10:30 PM for further treatment, where her condition is critical.

Basanta Batha Dhobi, involved in the incident, has been arrested and further investigation into the incident is underway.
