Major Highways Blocked Due to Rain, Landslides

Kathmandu. Continuous rain, floods, and landslides have blocked various major highways across the country. According to Nepal Police data, the Kanti Lokpath in Pandur, Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur, has been completely blocked due to a landslide since 5:35 AM today.

Similarly, the road on the Arniko Highway at both Chilime and Kodari in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok, is completely closed due to landslides.

The Mechi Highway (Jhapa-Taplejung road) in Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality-9, Koshi Province, is also completely blocked due to continuous rain, although an alternative route is available there.

The Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur is operating only one-way due to floods. Similarly, night travel has been restricted on some highways considering the risk of floods and landslides.

On the Khurkot-Nepalethok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway in Kavre, vehicle operation is prohibited from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM due to the possibility of floods. Vehicles will be allowed to operate from 4:00 AM to 6:00 PM after assessing the situation.

Likewise, on the Hetauda-Thingan-Bagmati-Lalitpur section of the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur, vehicle operation is prohibited from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM due to the risk of potential floods and landslides.

Citizens have been requested to contact the nearest police station or traffic control before traveling, as road conditions can be adverse during the rainy season.
