Youth Protest Government Interference in Public Service Commission Autonomy

Kathmandu. Youth have protested in Kathmandu against government interference in the autonomy of the Public Service Commission. The youth protested at Maitighar in Kathmandu on Monday, stating that the government has interfered in the autonomy of the Commission by making it mandatory to obtain approval from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to open advertisements or fill vacancies. Their demand is that the secretary-level decision that curbs the autonomy of the Public Service Commission should be immediately abolished.
Similarly, they have demanded that among the contract employees currently working, only 10 percent should be continued based on performance, and the remaining 90 percent should be removed and permanent positions should be filled through open competition. If the Public Service Commission does not open advertisements, the hard work, preparation, and studies of the students will not be evaluated, so the youth have urged all examinees to actively participate in the movement for their rights and interests.
