Supreme Court Issues Interim Order on Swavalamban Laghubitta CEO Reappointment

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order to immediately halt the implementation of the decision to reappoint Narendra Singh Bist, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Swavalamban Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, and to cancel his contract.

A single bench of Justice Vinod Sharma has also issued a 'show cause' order in the name of the respondents, issuing a short-term interim order. The court, issuing a short-term interim order, has asked the respondents to submit a written response within 15 days, excluding the travel time, through the Attorney General's office or in person, stating the basis and reason why the order should not be issued as per the petitioner's request.

The board of directors of Swavalamban Laghubitta, in its 488th meeting held on Shrawan 6, 2083, had decided not to reappoint Narendra Singh Bist as the Chief Executive Officer or to implement the contract with him.

An order has been issued in accordance with Rule 49 (2) (b) of the Supreme Court Regulations 2074, to keep the reappointment and contract of Bist in status quo and not to implement the board's decision of Shrawan 6 until further discussion and decision regarding the interim order.

The court has also asked both parties to appear on the upcoming Shrawan 18, 2083, for further discussion regarding the interim order. With this order, the company's decision to remove Bist from his post or to halt the process related to his contract has been stayed for the time being.
