CPN (Maoist Centre) Internal Dispute Erupts in Rukum East

Kathmandu. Long-standing internal dispute within the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) CPN (Maoist Centre) has flared up again in Rukum East, the constituency of party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Recently, district-level leaders and cadres have been divided against the decisions made by the party center. According to one leader, the recent dispute arose after the responsibilities of district in-charge and coordinator were given to the old leaders.

According to that leader, on the last Saturday, the group of central member Purna Gharti had called a separate gathering at Khabang Bagar. It is understood that they tried to form a parallel committee after failing to gather a majority in the committee.

'The dispute has been here since before. Actually, after the party unification, Tej Bahadur Oli was made in-charge and Kumari Baral was made coordinator. The dispute has increased after the responsibility was given to the old team. This is a local dispute,' that leader told Ratopati.

Leaders including central member Homprakash Shrestha 'Himal', central member Jitman Pun 'Marshal', central member Puniraj Gharti 'Ramesh', and central member Ravi Budha 'Nirman' are preparing to rebel.

In the gathering held on Saturday, they focused on criticizing the leaders and leadership. This group has decided to boycott the district committee meeting, while the district committee is understood to be preparing to take action against those who do not participate in the meeting from the founding group.
