Two Dead in Scooter-Mini Truck Collision in Chandragiri

Kathmandu. Two people have died in a collision between a scooter and a mini truck on the road section in Chandragiri Municipality-15, Thathana, Kathmandu, on Monday morning. The accident occurred at 2:58 AM on Monday when a scooter with number plate Ba.Pra.02-038 Pa 9897 coming from Satungal towards Kalanki and a mini truck with number plate Lu 1 Ka 4256 coming in the same direction collided. The scooter driver and the woman riding pillion, who were injured in the accident, were immediately rescued and taken to Shahid Memorial Hospital in Kalanki. As both were in serious condition, they were referred to B&B Hospital in Gwarko, Lalitpur, for further treatment. Deepak Nepal, 40, residing in Chandragiri Municipality-12, Hariyali, Kathmandu, who was on the scooter, was declared dead by doctors during treatment. Similarly, Shubhadra Kumari Nepal, 56, residing in Chandragiri Municipality-14, Kathmandu, who was riding pillion on the scooter, was declared dead by doctors at 7:05 AM. The scooter is under the control of the Traffic Police Division, Kalanki, following the accident. The mini truck and its driver have been taken into custody by the Thankot Police Circle. Police have stated that further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
