Department Fines Two Firms After On-Site Inspection Reveals Irregularities

Kathmandu. After finding irregularities during on-site inspection, the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has fined two firms.

The department has fined Kisu Chamenaagrih Rs 20,000. The department stated that the fine was imposed under Section 38 (d) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 for not keeping purchase bills as per Section 15 of the same act.

Similarly, Calmera Ataer Pvt. Ltd. located in Jadibuti, Kathmandu has been fined Rs 5,000. The department inspected a total of 12 firms, and gave corrective instructions to 10 of them.

The department clarified that necessary instructions and actions were taken in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and Consumer Protection Rules, 2076 while inspecting industries and firms. The department has been conducting regular inspections to maintain hygiene in the market, stop the trade of unwholesome goods, and ensure the issuance of bills.
