Parliamentary Hearing Committee Convenes for Proposed Election Commissioners

Kathmandu. A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee has been called for the parliamentary hearing of the proposed Chief Election Commissioner and Commissioners. Tuls Bahadur Kandel, Secretary of the National Assembly and also the Secretary of the Committee, informed that the Hearing Committee meeting has been called for Tuesday at 11 AM and the agenda for the hearing of the proposed Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners has been set.

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee Secretariat had called for complaints against the proposed names. The period for complaints, which was set for 10 days, ended on Sunday. However, since Sunday was a holiday, complaints would be accepted until Monday evening 5 PM and then opened, informed Secretary Kandel.

The Constitutional Council, in its meeting on Ashadh 19, had recommended Man Bahadur Karki of Morang, who was also the Registrar of the Supreme Court, as the Chief Election Commissioner.

The same meeting had recommended former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Dr. Rajiv Subba and Guru Wagle (Okhaldhunga) as Election Commissioners. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee had called for complaints against all three on Ashadh 26.
