Spain Regains Top Spot in FIFA Men's World Rankings, Argentina Drops to Second

Spain. Spain has regained the top spot in the FIFA Men's World Rankings, surpassing Argentina. Argentina has dropped to second place, while France remains in third place.

Spain, under the coaching of Luis de la Fuente, made a comeback to the top of the world rankings for the first time since January by defeating the 2022 World Cup champions Argentina 1-0 in extra time on Sunday.

Although Thomas Tuchel's England defeated France in the third-place match of the World Cup, there was no change in the rankings of either team. France remains third and England fourth.

Brazil has moved up one spot to fifth place, while Morocco has improved by one spot to reach its highest ever sixth place.

Portugal, which was eliminated from the Round of 16 in the World Cup, has dropped two places to seventh. Belgium has moved up one spot to eighth place, while the Netherlands has slipped one place to ninth.

Mexico has improved by four places to enter the top 10.

Norway, which reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup, has made the biggest leap, climbing 12 places to reach 19th.

Meanwhile, Germany has dropped out of the top 10, falling to 12th place. Croatia is in 13th place, one spot below Germany. Italy, which failed to qualify for the World Cup, has also dropped one place to 15th.

Tunisia has been the most affected team. It has dropped 12 places to 57th.

Egypt, which reached the Round of 16 in the World Cup, has improved by five places to 24th, while Paraguay has moved up seven places to 34th.

Cape Verde (Cabo Verde), which reached the Round of 32 in the World Cup, has improved by three places to 64th. Ghana, one spot behind it, has made a significant improvement of eight places.

In the FIFA rankings, Nepal is in 177th place, while among the SAARC countries, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bhutan are ranked below Nepal. Maldives is in 173rd place, Afghanistan in 171st place, and India, the world's most populous country, is in 138th place.
