Transport Dept. Requests Recognition of Health Certificates from NMC-Registered Doctors for Driver's Licenses

Kathmandu. The Department of Transport Management, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, has requested the ministries overseeing transport in all seven provinces to arrange for the recognition of health examination certificates provided by doctors registered with and licensed by the Nepal Medical Council for obtaining a driving license.

The request was made in a circular issued on Ashadh 32 by Ganesh Man Singh Rai, Director of the Vehicle Monitoring, Standards Formulation, and Driver Management Branch under the department.

The circular states, "Due to the current system of health checks for obtaining a driving license, problems like syndicates have arisen due to unnecessary crowds of service recipients, additional financial burden, and the involvement of a limited group. To make service delivery more simple, transparent, and service-recipient-friendly, it is requested to arrange for the recognition of health examination certificates provided by doctors registered with and licensed by the Nepal Medical Council, which will help maintain transparency and uniformity. This is to inform you that this has been communicated as per the decision made by the honorable minister on 2083/02/13."

With this circular from the federal government, the health check for obtaining a driving license is expected to become more organized and dignified, benefiting service recipients.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transport Management has requested details of doctors recognized by the Nepal Medical Council. The department sent a letter to the council on Shrawan 1 requesting these details.
