Iran Receives Diplomatic Proposals for Ceasefire Amidst Retaliatory Attacks with US

Tehran. Amidst continuous retaliatory attacks between Iran and the US, Iran has stated that it has received diplomatic proposals for a ceasefire from mediators.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baghai, responding to a question at a weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday about reports that Qatar had brought new proposals for resuming US-Iran talks and a 10-day ceasefire, confirmed receiving diplomatic proposals for a ceasefire from mediators without providing further details.

Baghai said that Iran's diplomatic mechanism is active alongside the military response to the US attack. He condemned the recent US attack on civilian infrastructure (bridges and medical centers) as a violation of the 'people's right to life, security, and human dignity'.

Regarding the peace understanding letter signed with Washington on June 18, he said, 'The text of the agreement is completely clear' and Washington has no excuse to break the promise of the agreement.

He stated that Tehran has moved forward as per its 'commitment'. He said that after Washington repeatedly broke its commitment, Tehran also stopped its obligations.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, he reiterated Tehran's stance that Iran will exercise its sovereignty over the strait and prevent any 'misuse' against its interests.

The US had attacked Iran's southern provinces repeatedly last week, stating that it was done with the aim of 'reducing the threat to commercial vessels from Iran'.

In response, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks targeting US military bases and facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
