MP Urmila Aryal Demands Budget Rewrite

Kathmandu. Nepali Communist Party (NCP) National Assembly member Urmila Aryal has said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year brought by the government should be rewritten. 

Speaking at the National Assembly meeting on Monday, she strongly demanded the government rewrite the budget, pointing out the need for extensive reforms in the current budget. 

MP Aryal argued that this budget of the government is regressive from the perspective of social justice. She accused the tax system brought by the government of not being appropriate and practical. She stated that the current budget has not brought any concrete and effective plans for the poor and destitute class. 

Expressing her views on the budget's tax structure and class bias, she said, 'The government has emphasized a consumption-based system instead of an income-based system in its tax proposal. This budget is naturally regressive. As the tax structures have been detailed by NCP honorable members Dr. Parshuram Tamang and honorable member Barshaman Pun in the House of Representatives, I support their views. On the other hand, public companies should focus on revenue return on dividends submitted to the government. The budget should be pro-poor and destitute. I support this budget on the condition that it will be rewritten.' 

MP Aryal expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the production sector, which is the economic backbone of the country, has been ignored in the budget and the government has not brought any concrete plans for the development of this sector.
