Speaker DP Aryal Inspects New Parliament Hall, Expresses Dissatisfaction Over Delays

Kathmandu. Speaker DP Aryal has expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in construction work while inspecting the new parliament hall, which is in the final stage of construction at Singha Durbar.

Speaker Aryal, who reached the construction site on Monday with Parliament Secretariat staff, demanded accountability from the construction side, citing that the work could not be completed within the stipulated time.

Although preparations were made to present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year from this very hall on Jestha 15, the construction work has not yet been completed. During the inspection, the Speaker directed to immediately provide a confirmed date for when the parliament hall will be ready.

Warning that a fine of one crore rupees per day would have to be paid if the construction work is further prolonged, he directed to immediately call the Minister and Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development and take necessary initiatives to complete the work.

During the inspection, Speaker Aryal said, "Even if it means working day and night, the promised work must be completed. You are making excuses. You might not be respecting us, but isn't this an insult? This is an insult to the entire nation. Now I need a clear conclusion."

Questions have been raised about the progress of the parliament building construction as the deadline for completion of construction work has been postponed time and again.
