National Assembly Member Rokaya Points Out Weaknesses in Government Budget

Kathmandu. National Assembly member of the main opposition party Nepali Congress, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya, has said that the government's budget for the upcoming fiscal year has many weaknesses. He said this while participating in the discussion on the government's new budget in the National Assembly meeting on Monday.

Member of Parliament Rokaya claimed that the government has brought an ambitious budget that is practically impossible to implement. He objected to the government's attempt to show revenue collection as the main source of national income rather than increasing domestic production. He said that focusing on revenue rather than production-oriented sectors is not appropriate for the sustainable development of the country's economy.

Pointing out the technical and political weaknesses of the budget, he said in the parliament, 'There are many weaknesses in the budget. For example, development expenditure is very low. The burden of debt seems to be increasing. Since Nepal has been unable to make capital expenditures in past years, implementation itself appears to be the main challenge. There is discrimination in salary increases. From a political perspective, this budget shows revenue collection as the main source.'

Member of Parliament Rokaya expressed sorrow that the budget has not taken any concrete steps to solve the main problem of unemployment in the country and to create new employment opportunities for the youth.
