Police Raid Hotel in Mahottari, Arrest Four Including Hotel Operator and Indian Nationals for Alleged Prostitution Ring

Mahottari. Police raided a hotel in Jaleshwor, Mahottari, arresting four people, including the hotel operator and Indian nationals, for involvement in prostitution. Based on information that women were being lured and forcibly engaged in prostitution at Koirala Hotel and Lodge, operating near Matiyani Chowk in Jaleshwor Municipality Ward No. 2, the District Police Office, Mahottari, conducted a raid on Sunday afternoon.

During the search of the hotel premises, the police team found two victimized women and two Indian men in compromising situations in rooms on the first and second floors. Used and unused temporary contraceptives were found scattered under the bed mattresses and on the floor inside the hotel rooms. 

Those arrested include a 28-year-old man from Madhwapur, India, and a 36-year-old man from Madhubani. Additionally, the police have taken a 60-year-old man from Jaleshwor-2 and the 45-year-old hotel operator into custody.

Police Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Kumar Bhatt informed that further investigation is underway after obtaining a six-day remand from the Mahottari District Court for all those arrested in connection with the human trafficking and smuggling case. The police claim that the hotel operator lured women for illicit gain and forced them into the sex trade. Further procedures are being advanced after rescuing the victimized women.
