Mukul Dhakal claims attacks on Rabi Lamichhane are part of a political plot
Kathmandu, January 2 — Dr. Mukul Dhakal, former General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has recalled the internal party maneuvers that aimed to separate party president Rabi Lamichhane from him.
Speaking through social media, he said, "They played poorly, believing that separating the president from the general secretary would weaken him. I tried to explain, but I failed. They took action against me, and then turned their attacks on the president."
He continued, "They played both from outside and within the party. I tried to warn them that this political game was happening, and we should avoid it. But by then, party president had already fallen into the trap he had created for himself. I repeatedly explained, but he didn't believe that he had been kept in dark. Instead, they took action against me. Without understanding the broader political context, they attempted to politically assassinate me, and I responded accordingly."
Dhakal also expressed concern about the future of the party, stating, "Their plan to take over the party by extreme right-wing opportunist foreign middlemen is succeeding. They didn’t believe me even after I set a date, but now that things are falling into place, the number of people who believe is gradually increasing. I hope it’s not too late by the time the necessary number is reached."
He stressed the importance of saving the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, saying, "This is a party we’ve built with our intelligence, sweat, money, and time. Let’s protect it—this is not a party born from petty struggles. Let’s not split up, but unite. If the court finds us innocent, we will apologize. If not, we will see."
