Nepal Electricity Authority Reports Partial Disruption in Power Transmission System Due to Falling Tree During World Cup Final

Kathmandu. Nepal Electricity Authority has stated that there was a partial disruption in the electricity transmission system due to a tree falling during the World Cup football final match due to adverse weather. The authority provided this information by issuing a statement on Monday morning.

The authority said: 'This morning, during the World Cup football final match, around 1:54 AM, a tree fell in the Pathlaiya Nikunj area under the Pathlaiya-Dhalkebar 132 KV transmission line due to adverse weather, causing a partial disruption in the electricity transmission system. Due to this, there was a 'ring break' in the transmission network, and the electricity supply was affected for some time in the Kathmandu Valley and various parts of the country.'

The authority also stated that it had taken high vigilance to provide electricity service during the World Cup football final match. Accordingly, all substations, no-light service, and technical manpower were kept on 'high alert', but the authority stated that the unexpected natural disaster caused by continuous rain created a disruption in the system. The authority also stated that as soon as information about the incident was received, the technical teams of the authority immediately became active and restored the electricity system as soon as possible through alternative arrangements.

The authority has also apologized for the inconvenience caused to the football fans watching the World Cup and all consumers due to the unexpected incident.
