Three Rescued, 14 Missing in Shuklaphanta National Park

Mahendranagar. Three out of seventeen people who went to search for mushrooms inside Shuklaphanta National Park have been found safe by the Nepali Army. The army stated that a team led by Lieutenant Colonel Suman KC of the Ransingh Dal Battalion, deployed for the security of Shuklaphanta National Park, rescued Lakshmi Thapamagar, Sita Chaudhary, and Manju Rana Chhetri from Beldadi Rural Municipality-2 from the jungle inside Shuklaphanta National Park this morning and handed them over to their families. The army found the three about four kilometers away from the Lalleri Post inside the park. According to the army, all three from Beldadi had entered the park secretly on Sunday to search for mushrooms. Similarly, a group of 14 women who entered from Bagphanta of Bhimdatta Municipality-19 inside Shuklaphanta are still out of contact. According to the Ransingh Dal Battalion, a large number of army teams have been mobilized inside the park for the search of the missing women. The women had entered the park to search for mushrooms on Sunday afternoon from the Bagphanta area. The spokesperson of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Tek Bahadur Rawat, informed that the search for the women who are out of contact inside the park is underway.
