Roads Affected by Rain, Floods, and Landslides in Koshi and Bagmati Provinces

Kathmandu. Major highways in Koshi and Bagmati provinces have been affected due to continuous rainfall and subsequent floods and landslides in various parts of the country. Some roads are completely closed while traffic is operating only on one side on others.

Road obstructions have been observed in Bhojpur, Ilam, and Khotang in Koshi Province. Under the Mid-Hilly Highway, the road in Bokhim, Bhojpur, is operating only on one side due to floods. Similarly, the Mechi Highway in Ilam (Rajduwali section) is completely obstructed due to continuous rainfall, and an alternative route has been suggested. Due to a landslide in Mamkha, Khotang, vehicles are also operating only on one side on the Mid-Hilly Highway.

In view of the risk of floods and landslides on the major roads of Bagmati Province, vehicle operation has been prohibited during the night.

Due to the risk of floods on the BP Highway, all vehicle operations are prohibited from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Vehicles will be allowed to operate only from 4:00 AM to 6:00 PM, considering the situation.

On the Kanti Lokpath's Hetauda-Thingan-Lalitpur section, driving is prohibited from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM due to the risk of floods and landslides.

The Arniko Highway is completely obstructed due to landslides in both Jirokilo and Kodari in Sindhupalchok's BhoteKoshi Rural Municipality.
