Dr. Govinda KC's Health Deteriorates on Third Day of Hunger Strike; Government Initiates Dialogue

Kathmandu. On the third day of Dr. Govinda KC's 24th hunger strike, his health condition is gradually weakening. The blood sugar of the fasting Dr. KC has dropped to 50 mg/dL by Saturday morning. Significant fluctuations have also been observed in his blood pressure. 

Health problems such as muscle cramps and difficulty speaking have been added. As he had undergone leg surgery just before starting the fast, he is facing significant difficulty in walking and going to the bathroom. A medical team led by Dr. Jagendra Duwal, a physician at Seti Provincial Hospital, has been deployed for continuous monitoring and further check-ups of his health.

Meanwhile, the government has initiated dialogue regarding Dr. KC's demands. Education Minister Pokharel spoke with Dr. Amrit Jaisi by telephone on Friday evening and with Dr. KC at 11 PM. During the dialogue, Dr. KC has put forth his main demands, including the dismissal of the officials of Shahid Dashrath Chand Health Sciences University and the immediate operation of a 300-bed full-time hospital at Geta. 

He urged the government to come to the negotiating table with the necessary groundwork to address these demands.
