Rastriya Swatantra Party Parliamentary Party Condemns Ink Attack on MP Ganesh Poudel

Kathmandu. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Parliamentary Party has expressed serious concern over the incident of black ink being thrown and mistreatment of Ganesh Poudel, a Member of Parliament elected from Rautahat Constituency No. 4.

A statement issued today by the party's Chief Whip, Kabindra Burlaakoti, strongly condemned the incident that occurred on MP Poudel on July 23 while returning after completing a public interaction program.

The statement mentioned that while the right to express disagreement and protest in a democratic system is protected, violence, mistreatment, or insulting behavior towards people's representatives is unacceptable in any democratic society. RSP's view is that such activities attack the rule of law, democratic culture, and peaceful and civilized political practice.

RSP has demanded that the Nepal government and relevant bodies conduct an impartial investigation into the incident, take strict action against the involved individuals according to the law, make the facts of the incident public, and ensure the security of people's representatives so that such incidents do not happen in the future.

The Parliamentary Party also clarified its unwavering commitment to democratic values, the rule of law, non-violent political practice, and the creation of a civilized society.
