Bhaage Jharna Attracts Tourists in Rasuwa

Rasauwa. The Trishuli river murmurs on one side of the road. On the other side is a huge cliff. From that cliff, it gushes down – Bhaage Jharna.

Anyone traveling from Nuwakot to Rasuwa is stopped for a while by the waterfall. With the increase in water flow, the splendor of the waterfall, located in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-2, has increased even more.

Due to its proximity to the road and easy accessibility, tourists from various places including Nuwakot, Kathmandu, and Dhading come to observe Bhaage Jharna. This waterfall is located on the Betrawati-Mailung-Syaphru besi road section that connects to China. The height of this waterfall is 181 meters.

Until the year 2079 BS, there was not much tourist activity. Ward Chairman of Uttargaya-2, Tukupraasad Subedi, says that tourists have increased in recent years after photos and videos of the waterfall were published on social media.

He said that 3 to 100 tourists come to see the waterfall daily. 'On Fridays and Saturdays, even up to 500 people come. There is no problem with food and accommodation. Hotels and homestays are operating nearby,' he said.

According to him, 4 million rupees have been allocated from the provincial and local governments in the current fiscal year for the infrastructure management of the waterfall.

The water falling from the waterfall reaches a pond below. Tourists are found swimming in the pond. The water from the waterfall falling from the high cliff mixes with the Trishuli river.

Mainly in Ashad, Shrawan, and Bhadra, the water flow in the waterfall increases significantly. After this, the water flow gradually decreases until winter, reaching a state where the waterfall dries up. After the monsoon ends, the water flow decreases significantly, and sometimes the waterfall dries up, so its attraction is limited to a seasonal basis.

It is about 70 kilometers from Tokha in Kathmandu and about 18 kilometers from Nuwakot headquarters Bidur.
