Secretary Govinda Sharma Resigns from Post

Secretary Govinda Sharma, who was sidelined in the Prime Minister's Office (Additional Group), has resigned from his post. 

Secretary Sharma submitted his resignation on July 1, effective from July 4, informed Hemraj Aryal, spokesperson and joint secretary of the Prime Minister's Office. 

According to spokesperson Aryal, the Council of Ministers meeting held on July 19 approved Secretary Sharma's resignation. 

Secretary Sharma, who was due to retire compulsorily on February 21, resigned on the 1st, three weeks prior to that. 

Sharma, who was in the race to become the Chief Secretary, was sidelined to the additional group by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who secured a comfortable majority with a single party after the House of Representatives elections held on February 21, without a ministry. 

Before the ministry adjustment, Sharma, who was the secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, was transferred to the Prime Minister's Office on May 11 and sidelined to the additional group. Sharma was given the responsibility of coordinating work related to Tribhuvan International Airport. 

Sharma was dissatisfied after senior secretaries were transferred to the Prime Minister's Office and junior secretaries were given ministry responsibilities during the ministry adjustment process.
