KP Sharma Oli: Cooperation Essential Against Forces Undermining Democracy

Kathmandu. CPN (UML) Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that cooperation among forces that want democracy is essential against forces that are abducting democracy. Oli also said that the responsibility to protect the constitution and democracy rests on the shoulders of the political parties that fought for the constitution and democracy.

"These parties must bring back democracy, save the constitution, and amend the constitution," Oli said, "We must move forward protecting the fundamental questions of democracy under their leadership."

Chairman Oli said that work must be done on both fronts, street and parliament, and that there is no alternative to the forces that want democracy uniting against those who are abducting democracy.

He also said that these political parties are responsible for uniting the Nepali people, and that anti-social elements are misusing social media to abuse political parties and leaders.

"Today, all parties, especially democratic parties, need to unite," Oli said, "CPN UML is united, and other parties also need to be united."

He said that the ongoing infighting in Congress is not justified and urged for unity and cooperation among forces fighting for democracy.

In a different context, Chairman Oli said that there seems to be some confusion in the provincial governments, but the uncertainty will be removed soon.

He criticized the actions of the federal government, saying that people are not even allowed to speak or walk on the streets, showing more autocracy than the Panchayat era.
