Advocate Tika Ram Bhattarai Criticizes Government for Imposing Dictatorship, Restricting Freedom of Thought and Expression

Advocate Tika Ram Bhattarai has stated that the government has imposed dictatorship by controlling freedom of thought and expression. Constitution expert Bhattarai said this on Thursday at a program organized in Kathmandu on the occasion of the 48th Pushpa Lal Smriti Diwas.

He also said that if the government's attitude continues like this, it will be difficult to save the constitution. He questioned the role of the parties, saying that even when the student union was banned, there was silence.

'Dictatorship has been imposed by controlling freedom of thought and expression, but we are all silent,' Bhattarai said, 'All components of the NCP, the Nepali Congress, and those who support constitution-making must respond to this.'

He said that democracy is moving towards dictatorship, making it difficult to save the constitution, and only by sitting together and setting a common vision can constitution-supporting political forces save and protect the constitution.

'For this, first of all, political parties must be strong and active, but today that cannot be felt,' he said, 'In the transitional stage, followers of BP and Pushpa Lal should come together and reorganize their respective parties.' He said that the public will come to the streets not for any particular leader but for the preservation of the entire movement, and leaders should also be able to give the message that the party is more important than the leader.
