Kailali Reports 1,929 Crimes in Fiscal Year 2082/83, Organized and Economic Offenses Lead

Kailali. In Kailali, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine various types of crime incidents were registered in the last fiscal year 2082/83. According to the District Police Office, organized and economic crime incidents are the most frequent among them.

According to the annual progress report, there are 806 cases of organized and economic crimes here. Similarly, two hundred and ninety-eight cases of suicide crimes, two hundred and sixty-five cases of crimes against life, two hundred and thirty-three cases of social crimes, one hundred and fifty-seven cases of crimes against women and children, ninety-one cases related to vehicle accidents, fifty-five cases related to theft, and twenty-four other incidents were registered.

According to the office's Information Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogendra Timilsina, 17 cases of homicide, six of arms, and 15 cases of human trafficking and smuggling were registered under heinous and serious crimes.

Similarly, under economic crimes, there are three hundred and two banking offenses, 26 gambling cases, 48 fraud cases, and one hundred and fifty-seven cases related to women, children, and senior citizens. Additionally, four hundred and eleven cases related to drugs and public morality were registered.

Similarly, out of five hundred and twenty-three complaints related to women, children, and senior citizens, most victims are in the age group of 26 to 45 years. The police stated that out of five hundred and twenty-three domestic violence complaints, four hundred and thirty-eight were resolved through reconciliation and 85 were sent to court.

Similarly, out of 976 missing person complaints throughout the year, 945 individuals were found. Among the 298 suicide incidents, there are 126 men, 120 women, 16 boys, and 36 girls.

Success in Implementation

The District Police Office has stated that it has made the campaign to arrest defendants in ongoing cases effective. The report mentions that one thousand nine hundred and fifty defendants have been arrested in one thousand four hundred and thirty-four cases, and three hundred and eighteen are yet to be arrested.

Similarly, out of 151 pending cases of public interest, 55 have been resolved. In terms of sentence execution, eight hundred and twenty-six absconding defendants have been arrested and 222 years, three months, and four days of imprisonment have been executed, and a fine of Rs 2 crore 21 lakh 2 thousand 42 has been collected, the police said. Under the drug control campaign, four hundred and eleven cases have been registered and 619 people have been arrested.

Similarly, for peace and security, a total of 39,521 police mobilizations were carried out throughout the year, including 19,080 picket duties, 4,320 checkings, 2,520 rural patrols, and 13,597 special patrols, informed the Office Chief, Superintendent of Police Narendra Chand. He stated that 2,622 police personnel were mobilized for protests, fairs, festivals, and disaster incidents.

Likewise, under community programs, 78,435 individuals benefited from 2,346 community-focused and 305 school-focused programs. Furthermore, 1,542 people participated in 34 programs targeted at marginalized, minority, and backward communities.

Revenue Collection

The police stated that the highest revenue was collected from vehicle accidents and traffic actions. In the last fiscal year, 82 people died and 974 were injured in 601 vehicle accidents. During that period, revenue of Rs 1 crore 47 lakh 75 thousand 500 was collected from traffic actions, with 14,926 vehicles being penalized.

The annual progress report mentions that goods worth Rs 7 crore 32 lakh 93 thousand 356 were seized during the campaign to control revenue leakage and customs evasion. Similarly, under the control of natural resource exploitation, 83 vehicles were taken under control and a fine of Rs 12 lakh 18 thousand 732 was imposed, and under the control of illegal forest product smuggling, 40 people were arrested and Rs 63 lakh 24 thousand 2 in revenue was collected. Meanwhile, the police stated that 14,545 liters of illegal liquor and 7,635 liters of raw materials were seized and destroyed.

Office Chief Superintendent of Police Chand said that based on the experience and learning of the past fiscal year, the goal is to further enhance crime control, arrest of absconding defendants, drug control, and community-police partnership in the coming year. He added that if all stakeholders cooperate, it will be easier to maintain peace and order in society.
