Vehicle and Driver Apprehended for Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Kanepokhari

Biratnagar. Police have taken into custody the vehicle and its driver who fled after hitting a pedestrian in Kanepokhari, Morang. According to the District Police Office, Morang, the Isuzu vehicle with registration number Ba 2 Jha 2226 and its driver were apprehended after fleeing the scene of the accident on the East-West Highway in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-7 on the 3rd of Shrawan.

Govinda Limbu, 60, a resident of Triveni Chowk, Patharishanishchare-10, was seriously injured in the collision. Following his death during treatment, police registered a case related to vehicle-related offenses and initiated investigation and search operations.

A joint team from the Area Police Office, Pathari, and Traffic Police found the vehicle hidden at the office of the Heavy Equipment Road Division Department in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-5, Sunsari, around 10 PM on Wednesday night.

Along with the vehicle, its driver, Ram Udgar Mandal, 44, a resident of Sukhipur Rural Municipality-8, Siraha, was taken into custody in coordination with the District Police Office, Sunsari. Deputy Superintendent of Police Makendra Kumar Mishra informed that the apprehended driver and vehicle are being brought to the Area Police Office, Pathari, Morang for further investigation.
