Prithvi Highway Sections in Dhading and Chitwan Reopened After Landslides

Kathmandu. The Prithvi Highway sections in Dhading and Chitwan, which were obstructed due to continuous rain since last night, have been reopened. According to the Nagdhunga-Mugling Road Project, traffic resumed in both directions at 11:00 AM on Sunday after small and large landslides at various locations were cleared.

Due to continuous rain since Saturday night, the road was completely blocked by landslides of stones and mud at about a dozen places including Jogimara, Jawang Khola, Fisling, and Chum Khola.

Excavators, loaders, and tippers, along with necessary machinery and equipment, were mobilized by the road project from last night to clear the obstruction.

After continuous efforts, the technical team succeeded in clearing all the accumulated debris from the road at 11:00 AM on Sunday. The project office stated that the entire road section from Narayangadh to Kathmandu is now operating under normal conditions.

The Road Project Office has expressed gratitude to the passengers and drivers who cooperated by maintaining lane discipline amidst adverse weather and road obstructions. Furthermore, as it is the rainy season, road users have been earnestly appealed to travel only after thoroughly understanding the road conditions to minimize potential risks.
