England Defeats India by 27 Runs in Third ODI to Win Series 2-1

London. In the third ODI played at Lord's, England defeated India by 27 runs to name the three-match series 2-1.

Batting first at Lord's, England scored 387 runs for the loss of three wickets in 50 overs. In response, the Indian team could only score 360 runs in 50 overs. Although Rohit Sharma played a century innings of 138 runs, he could not lead the team to victory.

England's hero of victory was Jacob Bethell. He scored 91 runs and also took one wicket. He was chosen as the 'Player of the Match'. India had won the first match by six wickets, while England had won the second match by four wickets.

Earlier, England had also defeated India 4-0 in the T-20 series. Before touring England, Ireland had also defeated India 2-0 in the T-20 series.

In pursuit of the huge target of 388 runs, Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill added 147 runs for the first wicket for India. Gill got out after scoring 77 runs off 78 balls. After that, Rohit shared a 113-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the second wicket. Rohit scored 138 runs off 111 balls. He hit 17 fours and five sixes in his innings.

Virat Kohli also scored a half-century. He got out after scoring 74 runs with the help of four fours and three sixes off 60 balls. Sam Curran took the most four wickets for England.

Earlier, Ben Duckett scored 141 runs off 135 balls for England. Jacob Bethell played an innings of 91 runs. Both shared a 192-run partnership for the first wicket. Later, Joe Root remained unbeaten on 74 and Jos Buttler on 41.

Both added 63 runs in the last 19 balls, taking England's score to 387. This is also England's highest ODI score against India. From India's side, Prasidh Krishna took two wickets, while Prince Yadav got one success.
