Gagan Thapa Criticizes Balen Shah-Led Government for Lawless Actions

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that the current government led by Balen Shah is bent on acting against the law by saying it will deliver results rather than follow procedures and processes. Speaking at a review program that began this afternoon at the party's central office in Sanepa, regarding the government's 100 days, President Thapa said that the Shah-led government has started working like the then Communist Party of Nepal government after the 2074 elections.

“Procedure and process are nothing, the government is moving forward saying it will deliver results,” Thapa said, “We have seen such practices in the past, the current government does not seem different from the CPN government.”

He gave the example of clearing the squatters' settlements as an example. Thapa said that although the problem of the landless could be solved by making laws, houses were demolished first to gain applause on social media.

Thapa said that the Rashtriya Swatantra Party's single-party government led by Shah has fallen into trouble because it is focused on social media likes (popularity) rather than the lives of the citizens. “This government is more concerned with likes than life, and is engaged in that. If the problem of the landless had been solved by making laws, likes would not have come on social media, so bulldozers were run in the squatters' settlements. There was discussion on social media.”

President Thapa praised Prime Minister Shah, saying that he governs from Singha Durbar rather than Baluwatar.
