Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Leaked Online, Garnering Millions of Views

New York. Director Christopher Nolan wants people to watch his film 'The Odyssey' on the biggest screen possible.

But a leaked copy of the film this weekend was seen by more than 2 million people on social media.

A high-quality version of the film posted on X on Saturday was viewed 2.1 million times in two and a half hours before the account was suspended, according to the film magazine 'Variety'. 'The entire Odyssey film in a single tweet, as Nolan wanted,' one user joked. Nolan shot the entire three-hour film on 70mm film for the giant IMAX screen. 'The entire Odyssey film in a single video posted on X, amazing,' wrote another X user. Another user said, 'Someone leaked the Odyssey film in HD. I initially thought it was fake, but it turned out to be true.'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, another version of comparatively lower quality also appeared on X on Sunday. The video was removed within two hours after being viewed about 50,000 times.

Responding to the incident, film production company Universal said, 'As soon as we were informed of the unauthorized posting of the film, we immediately initiated the removal process. We take copyright infringement seriously and will take necessary steps to protect our content and intellectual property.'

This leak is unlikely to have a significant impact on the film's box office collection. By the end of its second weekend, the film had grossed $215 million worldwide. With this, the film's total earnings have reached $640 million.
