Four Arrested in Dang for Illegally Issuing Nepali Citizenship to Foreign Nationals

Dang. Four people, including a ward chairman and ward secretary, have been arrested in Dang on charges of providing Nepali citizenship certificates to non-Nepali citizens by submitting false details.

Police have taken them under control after it was revealed that citizenship was illegally obtained through the collusion of the ward chairman and employees of Rajpur Rural Municipality Ward No. 4 in the district.

Those arrested include the current ward chairman of Rajpur Rural Municipality Ward No. 4, Rameshwar Yadav (Rameshwar Ahir), ward secretary of the same ward, Rajesh Kumar Kahar, and former office assistant Meena Chaudhary. Similarly, police have also arrested Alam Jolha of Rajpur Rural Municipality-4, who obtained Nepali citizenship based on false details.

During the preliminary investigation by the police, it was revealed that Alam Jolha, a non-Nepali citizen who did not meet any qualifications for obtaining citizenship, was made the son of the late Sanauallaha Jolha of Rajpur Rural Municipality-4 by arranging documents. Police stated that the non-Nepali was illegally provided with a Nepali citizenship certificate through the direct involvement and collusion of the ward chairman, ward secretary, and former office assistant.

Police have registered a case against all four arrested individuals under the offense related to citizenship and have forwarded further detailed investigation.
