Supreme Court to Hear Case on Abolition of Civil Servant Trade Unions

Kathmandu. A hearing has been scheduled in the Supreme Court's constitutional bench on the writ petition filed against the government's abolition of professional organizations and trade unions of civil servants.

The writ, filed by Nepal Civil Servant Organization President Bhawani Dahal and others, has been scheduled for hearing in the constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Dr. Manojkumar Sharma, Justices Dr. Nahakul Subedi, Binod Sharma, Abdul Aziz Musalman, and Mahesh Sharma Paudel.

Previously, the constitutional bench had issued a short-term interim order on the writ and summoned both parties for discussion.

The government had abolished trade unions in civil services, education, and other government organizations through an ordinance. The civil servant organizations had filed the writ stating that their constitutional rights had been revoked.
