Speaker Calls Meeting of Chief Whips

Kathmandu. Speaker Dolprasad Aryal has called a meeting of the chief whips of the political parties represented in the House of Representatives on Monday morning. The old Business Advisory Committee has been automatically dissolved after the new Rules of Procedure for the House of Representatives came into effect. As a new committee has not been formed, Speaker Aryal has called a meeting of the chief whips of the parties represented in the House to discuss the agenda of the session. 

Spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Ekram Giri informed that the Speaker has called a meeting of the chief whips at 9:30 AM on Monday at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singhdarbar.

Until now, the House of Representatives was operating under the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives 2079 BS. On Jestha 17, the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives 2083 BS was passed by a majority of the ruling party amidst the encirclement of the well by the opposition parties. Since then, the opposition parties have not allowed the session to enter the agenda, and a new Business Advisory Committee has not been formed. 

The opposition parties have been obstructing the session demanding that Prime Minister Balendra Shah's statement on Jestha 17, that Nepal has also encroached upon India's border, be removed from the parliamentary record and that he apologize in the House.  

The House of Representatives meeting has been called for 1 PM on Monday after Jestha 19.
