Prime Minister Balen Shah States Socialism and Communism Difficult to Implement in Practice

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah has stated that although it is enjoyable to give speeches on socialism and communism, it is difficult to implement them in practice. Shah said this in response to a question from opposition party CPN (Maoist Centre) MP Parmesh Hamal regarding the government's stance on upgrading to a developing country.

"We are focusing on increasing export-oriented production and increasing money," said Prime Minister Shah, "It is fun to give speeches on communism and socialism regarding the poor and destitute. But it is difficult in practice."

He stated that when he was the mayor of the metropolis, he had arranged for 10 percent free education for destitute families, and that true socialism lies there.
