Police Shoot Robber in Kathmandu's Jadibuti

Kathmandu. Police have opened fire in Jadibuti, Kathmandu. A team from the District Police Range Kathmandu has arrested a robber by firing shots near Royal Party Palace in Jadibuti. The arrested person is Ganesh Karki, a resident of Bhadrakali, Kathmandu.

He sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg. SP Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range Kathmandu told Ratopati that the firing was in self-defense during a confrontation with the police in Jadibuti. He said, 'During the retaliatory action, one of our police personnel was also injured.'

Karki, involved in the robbery, has been taken to Trauma Center for treatment. The police personnel is undergoing treatment at Kantipur Hospital.

On Saturday afternoon, Karki and another youth robbed a woman of her chain in Sukedhara by spraying chili powder in her eyes and fled. Police claim that they encountered him in Jadibuti while searching for him. Police have also arrested another accused involved in the robbery, Bishnu Gurung.

Karki, injured by the gunfire, had escaped from Central Jail on Bhadra 24 during the Janji movement. He was jailed on charges of dacoity. Police officials say that some time ago, he had also sprayed chili powder on the police in Kopan and fled.
