CPN UML Launches Party Mobilization Campaign for Local and Provincial Elections

Kathmandu. CPN UML has started a 'Party Mobilization Campaign' targeting the upcoming local and provincial elections. Such a campaign has been conducted to focus leaders on geography. 

CPN UML has sought to focus on geography by assigning central members the responsibility of conducting the party mobilization campaign in the local units of the districts they represent. 

"Leaders who have been assigned as district in-charges have also been included in the mobilization campaign of the local units," said a secretary, "Otherwise, one central member has been given the responsibility of at most two local units and asked to focus on the mobilization campaign." 

Although central members of the party have been assigned as people's organization in-charges and department heads, they have also been assigned the responsibility of their respective local units. 

As the central members alone are insufficient for the campaign focused on local units, members of central bodies and leading cadres have also been assigned this responsibility. 

According to the work division done by CPN UML, the chairman has been assigned the leadership of the overall work and the general secretary has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating the party's organizational work and the head of the central office.  Vice-presidents and deputy general secretaries have been assigned the responsibility of coordinating the party's departments and sectors. 

Six out of nine secretaries have been given the responsibility of provincial in-charge. Chief Minister of Koshi and Secretary Hikmat Karki has been assigned as the head of the Disaster Management and Volunteer Department, Padma Aryal as the head of Parliamentary Affairs, and Bhanubhakta Dhakal as the head of the Organization Department. 

Other secretaries include Chhabilal Bishwakarma as Lumbini In-charge, Khagaraj Adhikari as Gandaki In-charge, Yamlal Kandel as Karnali In-charge, Sherdhan Rai as Koshi In-charge, Rajan Bhattarai as Capital Special Province In-charge, and Mahesh Basnet as Bagmati Province In-charge.
