Singla Village in Gorkha: A Remote Gurung Settlement

Gorkha. In Singla, located in Dharche Rural Municipality-5 of northern Gorkha, there is a dense settlement of more than 200 households. Singla village, inhabited by the Gurung community, is located at an altitude of approximately 2100 meters above sea level.

This village, located about 2.30 hours away from Gupsipaakha and Laprak village, falls under the Lower Manaslu trekking route. The main occupations here are agriculture, trekking, and foreign employment. The entire village was reduced to ruins by the 2072 earthquake. The village is now slowly recovering.

Although a dirt track has been opened in Singla, a very remote village in Gorkha district, vehicles have not yet reached there, forcing the local people to walk for hours.

Food grains and daily necessities are brought from Machhakhola, Laprak, and Barpak of the district by carrying them and using mules, which takes hours to reach there.

From this village, which is very beautiful from a tourist perspective, one can observe Ganesh, Shringi, Boudha and other mountains. About 2 hours uphill from the village, at an altitude of 3250 meters, lies the very beautiful Rukang Danda.
